Based on a true story, this film centers on a new prison guard at Leavenworth in Kansas, Henry Lesser (Robert Sean Leonard), who takes an interest in burglar and murderer Carl Panzram (James Woods), who has taken to a pad of paper to describe all of his heinous actions. The irreverant Panzram was a loose cannon all the way to his execution -- even pushing out a priest. Cara Buono portrays Esther, Lesser's wife.
